welcome back.
I didn’t think that I would be able to do it again. And yet here we are. I didn’t know that I needed to dig any deeper than I did last time. And yet here we are. I didn’t think there was anything left to say and that my happiness showed through the last album. And yet here we are again. When I started this, I wanted to make songs that would make people get up and dance, just to prove that I could. Then something profound happened; I realize that I needed to tell stories about my own life instead of highlighting the empathic ghost of others. And I needed to talk about my dad. And I needed to talk about the loves of my life. And I needed to talk about my thing with alcohol. And I needed to talk about my thing with race. And they needed to talk about anything with social media. And finally, I needed to tell you what I learned from God. So that’s what this album is going to be about, and even though I’ll start you off with something you give to, I promise that it’ll be substantive, and it will at least teach you something about me that you didn’t know. In the meanwhile, I’ve gathered some “essentials” that will get you caught up. And now back to zero.
